CMS 4410 Digital Video Production

Course Description

An introduction to the three phases of digital video creation: pre-production, production, and post-production. Students will be required to attend events (e.g., video shoots) scheduled outside of regular class hours.

Course Learning Outcomes

Successful completion of the course indicates that students have demonstrated the following:

  1. A basic understanding of the three primary phases of video creation: pre-production (planning), production (shooting), and post-production (editing);
  2. A basic understanding of camerawork, lighting, sound design, editing, and mise-en-scene as each contributes to the meaning of video texts;
  3. The ability to choose appropriately among different approaches to the attributes listed in (2), based on the content and contexts of a given video;
  4. The ability to implement these choices effectively.
