Lessons
Lessons 1-21 in our textbook, Apple Pro Training Series: Final Cut Pro HD, form a key part of the class. Students will work through the various lessons in class. Lessons must be completed by the end of the class on the day that they are listed on our schedule. Each completed and correct lesson is worth one point toward the final percentage grade. Quizzes and out-of-class projects are based on the skills learned in the lessons.
Opening and saving lessons
Important: Before beginning each lesson, you must complete the following steps:
- Find and open the appropriate lesson file in the "Lessons" folder that is located on the external drive connected to your computer;
- Select "Save As" from the file menu;
- Navigate to your folder on the external drive;
- Change the name of your copy to <YourLastName 4450 #.fcp>. For example Mary Smith's fifth lesson file would be called "Smith 4450 5.fcp";
- Save the file into your folder on the external drive.
Submitting your lesson files
At the end of the class in which a lesson is scheduled, you should send me the edit file of your completed lesson. I only need only the edit file; please do not attempt to attach any video or audio files to your message, since this will fill your mailbox and probably crash the browser and/or your email account. To send me your edit file:
- Open the Safari web browser from the dock;
- Log in to your CSU webmail account (or any other reliable email account, if you prefer);
- Attach the file "YourLastName 4450 #.fcp" to your message;
- The subject line of your message must be identical to the name of your file;
- Your file is due by 5 p.m. of the week listed on our schedule.
Partially completed lessons or lessons turned in within one week after the due date will earn half a point; Missing lessons, lessons turned in more than one week after their due date, or substantially incomplete lessons will earn zero points.
