Preparing graphic files for import

This information also appears on page 692 of our textbook.

To correctly import a still image into your video project, you need to first compensate for the differently shaped pixels used in still images (like jpegs) and digital video images. To do so, complete the following steps (These work for NTSC video, which is the North American standard).

  1. Begin with a image file size that is 720x534 pixels.
  2. Once you have finished editing the graphic, save a copy and convert this new image to 720x480 pixels. This will squeeze the image's width, making it appear slightly distorted.
  3. Without making further changes to this copy, import it into Final Cut Express.
